Houston does not collect natural Christmas trees at the curb. The city runs a drop-off program for a few weeks after Christmas, which means loading a dry, sap-covered tree into your car and driving it across town. Our Christmas tree removal service does that part for you: you pick a date, we pick up the tree, and the needles stay out of your hallway.

How Christmas Tree Pickup Works in Houston
01 Book Your Date Online
Booking opens the day after Christmas. Pick curbside or in-home, tell us whether the tree is natural or flocked, choose your date, and pay online. There is no quote to wait for and nobody has to call you back. The week after New Year is the busiest one we run, so early dates go first.
02 Strip the Tree, or Let Us
Take off the lights, ornaments, tinsel, and the stand. Recyclers will not take a tree with hardware still on it, and a single strand of tinsel can foul a mulching machine. If you would rather skip that job, add Christmas tree light removal for $10 and we will take the strands off when we arrive.
03 We Collect It
For curbside, put the tree out by 7 a.m. and you do not need to be home. For in-home pickup we arrive in your appointment slot, wrap the tree so the needles stay with it, and carry it out through the shortest route. We sweep up what drops on the way.
04 Recycled or Disposed Of Properly
Natural trees are clean green waste, and they get ground into mulch that goes back onto Houston landscapes. Flocked, painted, and artificial trees cannot be mulched because of the coating and the plastic, so we take those to proper disposal instead. Either way, it leaves your driveway that day.

A tree that has been up since Thanksgiving is dry, and dry needles come off in a trail from the living room to the door. On in-home pickups we wrap the tree before it moves, take the shortest route out, and sweep behind it. On curbside pickups the tree never comes back inside at all.

How Christmas Tree Disposal Actually Works in Houston
Houston is a drop-off city, not a curbside one. Every year the Solid Waste Management Department opens Christmas tree recycling sites from around the day after Christmas into late January, and residents haul their own trees to one of roughly 20 locations, including neighborhood depositories, the Westpark Consumer Recycling Center, and Living Earth yards around the metro. The exact dates and the site list are published fresh each December on the City of Houston Solid Waste page.
The rules are strict because the trees get ground into mulch. Lights, ornaments, tinsel, wire, nails, plastic bags, and the stand all have to come off first, and trees that are flocked, painted, or artificial are turned away. Artificial trees are treated as junk waste instead, which the city collects on its own even-month schedule, so a fake tree put out in the wrong month simply sits there.
That is the gap our pickup fills. We handle the trees the recycling program refuses, we come to you instead of the other way round, and we work the same neighborhoods we mow and light the rest of the year: Bellaire, West University Place, River Oaks, The Heights, Memorial, and the rest of our service area. Natural trees still go for mulching, because that is the right end for them.

Do I have to be home for the pickup?
Not for curbside. Set the tree out by 7 a.m. on the date you booked and we will take it whenever we reach your street that day. In-home pickup is different, because we are coming inside: that one books as a real appointment slot, so somebody needs to let us in. If your plans change, call us and we will move your date as long as there is room left in the season.
When should I take my Christmas tree down?
Most Houston homes take the tree down in the first two weeks of January, and there is a practical reason to not leave it much longer. A cut tree that has been up since Thanksgiving is dry by New Year, it drops needles constantly, and a dry tree near a heat source is a fire risk. Our busiest week is the one right after New Year, so if you want a specific date, book it while you still have a choice.
Do I need to take the lights and ornaments off first?
Yes, unless you add Christmas tree light removal for $10, which covers taking the strands off. Everything has to come off before a tree can be mulched: lights, ornaments, tinsel, wire, nails, the stand, and any plastic bag. Tinsel and wire are the two that cause real damage in a grinder. If you want the house lights taken down at the same time, that is part of our Christmas light installation package, which includes takedown and off-season storage.
