Landscaping Services in the Energy Corridor, Houston
Strong Landscaping is a locally owned team with more than 20 years of work across Houston. The Energy Corridor runs along I-10 between the Barker and Addicks reservoirs, so drainage and flood-aware design come first on most lots here. We build yards to move water, care for the big oaks and pines that shade these streets, and keep corporate campuses looking sharp.

The Energy Corridor sits along I-10 between the Barker and Addicks reservoirs, two large basins that hold storm water for Buffalo Bayou. During Hurricane Harvey in 2017, record rain filled both, and water released to protect the dams flooded thousands of nearby homes. That history puts drainage and flood-aware design first on most lots here. We build yards to handle water, then plant to fit the shady, wooded streets.
Full-Service Landscaping in the Energy Corridor
Why did homes here flood during Hurricane Harvey?
The Energy Corridor sits next to the Barker and Addicks reservoirs, two flood-control basins for Buffalo Bayou. During Hurricane Harvey in August 2017, record rain filled both to their highest levels ever. To protect the dams, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released water into Buffalo Bayou, which flooded neighborhoods downstream, including homes that had never flooded before. We design drainage with that risk in mind.
Can you fix standing water and drainage on my Energy Corridor lot?
Yes. The flat, clay ground near Buffalo Bayou drains slowly and keeps the water table high, so yards hold water after storms. We install French drains and catch basins, regrade low spots, and route water toward the street or storm system. On the worst lots we raise beds and add a sump so water leaves the property faster.
Do you protect mature trees when you landscape a wooded lot?
Yes. Neighborhoods like Nottingham Forest and Wilchester are known for their big oaks and pines. We hand-dig near trunks, keep hardscape off the root flare, and choose shade-tolerant plants for the beds underneath. Careful root-zone work keeps the canopy healthy while we build.
Serving Homes and Businesses Across the Energy Corridor
We work throughout the Energy Corridor, from the wooded streets of Nottingham Forest and Wilchester along Buffalo Bayou to the corporate campuses off Eldridge Parkway and the homes near Terry Hershey Park and George Bush Park. Our shop sits on the northside at 2305 Bennington Street, inside Loop 610, a straight run out I-10 to the district.

Craftsmanship, Quality & Personalized Service
Landscaping in the Energy Corridor means dealing with water first. We have spent over 20 years planting and building across Houston, so we know how flat clay lots drain, how the ground behaves near Buffalo Bayou, and how to protect big oaks and pines while we work. That experience matters on lots shaped by the Barker and Addicks reservoirs.
How much does landscaping cost in the Energy Corridor?
It depends on the scope. Many lots here need drainage or regrading before planting, and tree work adds to the total, so projects can run higher than a simple bed refresh. We give a written estimate after we walk the property, and our quote form lists budget ranges so you can point us in the right direction.
Do you install French drains for the reservoir-area flooding?
Yes, and it is some of our most common work here. We install French drains, catch basins, and regrading, and add a sump pump where a lot needs it. No yard drain can stop a reservoir release, but good grading keeps everyday Gulf Coast storms moving off your lawn and away from the foundation.
Can you do native or low-water landscaping here?
Yes. We plant Gulf Coast natives and low-water, drought-tough species that need less watering once they take hold. These plants do well under the tree canopy on wooded lots and hold up through hot, dry stretches. Native beds also cut down on runoff, which helps on flood-prone ground.
Nottingham Forest
A neighborhood of large 1960s homes on spacious lots along Buffalo Bayou, south of Memorial and west of Dairy Ashford. Its mature oak canopy is the draw, so we plan drainage and hardscape that protects the roots.
Wilchester
An early-1960s neighborhood shaded by native oaks and pines, bordering Terry Hershey Park and Buffalo Bayou. We care for the trees, refresh shade beds, and fix the drainage on these established lots.
Lakes of Parkway
A gated community built around man-made lakes near Eldridge Parkway. We keep the grounds sharp, manage drainage around the water features, and add lighting and beds that suit the newer homes.
Terry Hershey Park Edge
The homes along Buffalo Bayou and the Terry Hershey Park greenbelt, close to the reservoir-fed corridor. These lots need flood-aware design, so we build grading and drainage before anything else.

Built Around Craftsmanship, Quality & Personalized Service
Flood-Aware Drainage & Regrading
With the reservoirs, flat clay, and Buffalo Bayou nearby, water is the first problem to solve. We install French drains and catch basins, regrade low spots, and raise beds to move storm water off the property.
Wooded-Lot & Mature-Tree Care
The oaks and pines in Nottingham Forest and Wilchester need care during any project. We hand-dig near roots, keep hardscape off the root flare, prune for health, and plant shade-tolerant beds beneath.
Native & Low-Water Planting
Gulf Coast natives and drought-tough plants need less water and hold up under the tree canopy. They cut runoff too, which helps on flood-prone lots. We design xeriscape beds that still look full.
Corporate Campus Landscaping
The district is home to energy company campuses like BP, Shell, and ConocoPhillips. We handle grounds, beds, seasonal color, and irrigation for offices on a schedule that fits the workday.
Landscaping That Respects the Barker and Addicks Reservoirs
The Energy Corridor is one of the few Houston areas shaped directly by two flood-control reservoirs. After Harvey, drainage here is not an afterthought. We design every project to handle water first, then make it look good. We are also honest about the limits: a reservoir release is bigger than any yard drain, but the right grading keeps everyday storms off your foundation.
Drainage First
We handle grading, French drains, and catch basins before any planting, so water leaves the lot instead of sitting against the house.
Honest Flood Talk
We will not oversell. A reservoir release cannot be stopped by landscaping, but we build to handle normal Gulf Coast storms and keep water off the foundation.
Tree Canopy Preserved
The oaks and pines make these streets special. We protect the roots and canopy while we regrade and build, so the trees come through the work healthy.
